George F. Thoma, musician. The George F. Thoma Collection contains photographs of various members of the Artie Shaw Band at the navy barracks of Pearl Harbor in 1943.

George F. Thoma served in the Navy and was a member of the Artie Shaw Navy Band, which was the first band of its kind to be sanctiond by the US Navy. The band toured various areas of the South Pacific during 1943. In 1944, Shaw was discharged due to health reasons and Sam Donahue took over leadership of the band.
The George F. Thoma Collection contains photographs of various members of the Artie Shaw Band at the navy barracks of Pearl Harbor in 1943. Band members pictured include George Thoma, Dave Tough, Lyle Epstein, Sam Donahue, Max Kaminsky, Dave Rose, and a few unidentified men. Artie Shaw and Claude Thornhill do not appear in these photographs.
